Multiple LNB's on my Sky dish?
Tuesday, December 19, 2006, 13:21 - Technology
I've been toying with the idea of adding several LNB's to my Sky dish in order to pick up stations from other satalites.

I found this site which looks like exactly what I'm looking for:
http://www.satcure.co.uk/tech/channels.htm

First I need to figure out which satelites transmit the channels I'm looking for, then establish if all I have to do is add more LNB's to the Sky dish in order to achive this.

A FTA (free to air) digital satelite reciever would be a good start and I believe I can simply unplug my Sky box and swap it for an FTA version as a basic test.

More posts on these exploits to come.....

VI: Wildcard Search and Replace
Tuesday, October 31, 2006, 09:01 - Technology
Here's one to remember - when editing files in Vi to do a wild card search and replace you do this:

:%s/Someting.*something else/replace text/g

This will match any number of charaters (each line) between the word "Something" and the phrase "something else".

This line:
blah blah something chat chat test text something else some more text

Would become:
blah blah replace text some more text

Syncronising Outlook and Google Calendars
Wednesday, October 18, 2006, 11:18 - Technology
I discovered Google Calendars the other day - a great tool I have access to using my GMail account.

I already have my XDA synced with Outlook using MS ActiveSync, but I would like Megan (and a few others) to be able to put/push calendar entries into my Outlook/PDA calendar from home via Google Calendar.

Hopefully this guys instructions will work.

His diagram should explain all:

I don't use Outlook at home, I might stick with just Google Calendar or start using the calendar on Max OSX also.
